With the rising global awareness of sustainable development, the International Trade Administration has commissioned two major projects, the MEET TAIWAN program and the "Enhancing the Competitiveness of Taiwan's MICE Industry" plan, to jointly publish the "Taiwan MICE Sustainability White Paper" in collaboration with the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI). This white paper showcases Taiwan's efforts and determination in promoting green MICE, continuing its outstanding performance internationally, and enhancing the visibility and global leadership position of Taiwan's MICE industry.
Taiwan MICE Sustainability White Paper references domestic and international MICE organization data and practices, covering the United Nations' SDGs indicators, as well as referencing the "Sustainable MICE Industry Guidelines" and Taiwan's pathway to net-zero emissions by 2050. It proposes the SIRCO principles, which include Sustainability, Impact, Resilience, Collaboration, and Ownership. These principles not only encompass energy conservation and carbon reduction concepts but also consider practices in governance, society, and the economy. The white paper also provides action guidelines to assist industry practitioners in implementing concrete actions to achieve sustainable development goals in the MICE industry.
