Founded in 1952 by Madame Chiang, the Grand Hotel was established with the critical mission to foster good relations and host distinguished international guests. The Grand Hotel has received more than 111 heads of state from countries with diplomatic relations and over 2,000 foreign dignitaries and celebrities. It is a national hotel witnessing international diplomatic and political scenes and a cultural venue.
The majestic palace architecture of the Grand Hotel is unique to the eyes of the world. Built with the oriental palace features, the Hotel was integrated with colorfully painted pillars, flying eaves, corbeled columns, scarlet cylinders, and a colored glaze tiled structure. Fortune magazine selected it as one of the top ten hotels in the world in 1967.
There are six restaurants in the Grand Hotel, including the Grand Garden, Golden Dragon restaurant, Yuan Yuan restaurant, Grand steak house, Secret Passage Bar, and Garden Cafe, offering a wide range of Chinese and Western cuisine. The 500 guest rooms were decorated with colorful wall themes featuring Formosan blue magpies, swallowtail butterflies, purple crow butterflies, and broad-tailed swallowtail butterflies to incorporate Taiwan’s natural landscape features. Melodious Chinese and Western music was played in the hall. There are many attractions with classical eulogized stories inside and outside the hotel.
With its rich history and culture, the Grand Hotel incorporated space, music, and taste into the diversified culture of Yuanshan, which will surely enrich your vacation!
