This makes planning relaxing and rewarding half-day outings outside of MICE-event hours a breeze. Explore the bustling upscale Xinyi commercial district and its iconic skyscraping Taipei 101 landmark, the Maokong tea plantation/teahouse area and its hill-soaring Maokong Gondola, or Xiangshan (Mt. Elephant) hiking trail and its glimmering night views.

International travelers are struck by Taipei's diversity and inclusivity. The Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, in a repurposed Japanese-built tobacco-factory complex, is a great venue for MICE activities. Dihua Old Street, Taipei's oldest commercial street, filled with Chinese and Japanese imperial-era architecture, is a favorite destination for international visitors, notably the ornate Taipei Xia-Hai City God Temple.

The city serves up deliciously diverse cuisine and various types of Michelin-starred restaurants, along with an endless buffet of easy-on-the-palate local foods. During explorations away from MICE duties, satisfy adventurous taste buds with classics such as Taiwanese egg pancakes, beef noodle soup, and pearl milk tea. Be sure to load up on specialty souvenir goodies like pineapple cakes, nougats, and hand-crafted egg rolls to share a little Taipei joy upon returning to family and friends.

During business trips to Taipei, different experiences can match different moods and seasons. In spring, for example, meander through sprawling Daan Park to enjoy azalea blooms. In summer, trek along Yangmingshan's Erziping Trail to thrill at butterfly beauty. If only a little extra time is available outside of MICE duties, there are still many easily arranged day-trip adventures to tourist destinations just outside of Taipei City. At the sprawling National Center for Traditional Arts, wander through a mock-up of a yesteryear town, browse the shops selling traditional-culture crafts such as hand puppets and children's toys, and enjoy the array of live folk art demos and performance art shows.
