Co-hosted by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), the 2023 Taipei Int’l Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) opened today (March 6) at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Halls 1 & 2, and at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition (TWTC) Hall 1. Thousands of manufacturers from 18 countries/regions are participating in the show, with nearly 6,200 booths.
TIMTOS is a not-to-miss benchmark exhibition for the global machine industry. All eyes were on its grand return after the pandemic. TIMTOS is the largest professional exhibition held after Taiwan opened its borders, greatly increasing the participation of overseas buyers. According to TAITRA, with international business and travel status returning to normal, more than 80 countries and 3,000 foreign buyers registered for TIMTOS before its launch. TIMTOS is expected to attract 50,000 domestic and foreign visitors this year, which is an important indicator of economic recovery in early 2023.
James C. F. Huang, chairman of TAITRA, said that TIMTOS 2023 will open a new chapter for the machine tool industries around the world after the pandemic, and reconnect the global manufacturing industry, enabling foreign exhibitors and buyers to finally meet face to face at TIMTOS. Industry associations from India, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Turkey, and other countries all led delegations to visit Taiwan. In addition, the U.S.A., Germany, Switzerland, and Denmark all exhibited as national pavilions in this year’s TIMTOS, demonstrating the power of multinational corporations. Moreover, TIMTOS integrated ESG trend issues, from exhibition content to event planning, highlighting the transformation of the industry towards the net zero direction of more efficient, smarter, and greener.
To better meet marketing trends, TIMTOS 2023 added three new thematic areas in TWTC Hall 1—Advanced Metalworking Technology, Additive Manufacturing, and Future Manufacturing—that contain advanced manufacturing technologies and applications for metalworking. The organizers also planned activities such as a Metalwork Ecosystem Guided Tour across three halls and a Cutting Tour Hunter Air Tickets Lucky Draw in TWTC Hall 1. At the same time, this show launched an ESG double-core activity called ESG action!: Sustainability Series and ESG in TIMTOS: Discern the Future of Manufacturing, calling on major domestic and foreign manufacturers, renowned industry leaders, research institutes, and consultants to provide advice to industries. Content includes a Corporate Carbon Health Check, Dr. Net Zero, a one-on-one carbon reduction consultation by experts, a Future Manufacturing Forum, a ESG Sustainability Seminar, a Green Tool Manufacturing Talk, a Maker Workshop, a Marine & Offshore Machinery Seminar, and a live Manufactures WIN Podcast, which was held for five days (3/6–3/10) at TWTC Hall 1.
